I was teaching my Bible study lesson at my church yesterday and was struck again by the fact that Christ came to bring salvation to all the world. to know God’s love and forgiveness. His name, Jesus, reminds us that he came to save. Every aspect of His birth points toward redemption. The angel’s words to the shepherds and the magi’s visit to worship further confirm God’s purpose in sending His Son to earth to live and die among the people.
China is a country of over a billion people who live under Communist rule. A strong Christian community continues to live for Christ, but face persecution daily. Many have given their lives, many are in prison even now, and in fact, the persecution of believers in China is most likely greater today than ever.
