Upside-Down Freedom

by newhope

Inverted Principles for Christian Living
by Taylor Field

If you want to reshift your thinking on discipleship, Upside-Down Freedom can give you just the fuel you need for your journey. For more than 25 years, author Taylor Field has served among people who deal with grueling issues of recovery and reveal courageous journeys to freedom. Their life-changing journeys were a result of inverted thinking.

Field’s insightful perspective in Upside-Down Freedom, closely looking at forms of personal bondage, reveals that the way to release yourself from the things that hold you captive can be counterintuitive. Using practical scriptural principles, the inspiring lives of unexpected freedom fighters, including ordinary people from the streets of the Lower East Side, you can find an alternative route to freedom, one so old our own society seems to have forgotten it.

About the Authors

Popular conference and seminar speaker Jay Dennis has a passion to lead men to live lives of moral purity. He has developed a church-based ministry resource which asks men inside churches of all denominations to make a commitment to live a pornography-free life. He has completed a graduate certification in Sexual Addictions through the Institute for Sexual Wholeness in Atlanta, Georgia. He is the senior pastor of First Baptist Church at the Mall which has experienced phenomenal growth and has been recognized in Growing Churches magazine, Christianity Today, and Billy Graham’s Decision Today radio program. A Fort Smith, Arkansas, native, he holds a doctor of ministry degree from Fuller Theological Seminary. He has authored more than six books and developed the Decision-Maker’s Bible with Tyndale House Publishers. An active denominational leader, Jay loves to read, write, run, go to the beach, spend time with his family. He and his wife, Angie, reside in Florida, and have two grown children.

Cathy Dyer, an English teacher, knows firsthand the pain of pornography. After seven years of marriage, her husband, entangled in the vice of pornography, left her. He came back, but the journey to a renewed relationship wasn’t easy, and she wasn’t sure she even wanted to begin. Only God’s healing and counseling restored their marital relationship.

Encouraging their new pastor, Jay Dennis, to continue shedding God’s light on this topic, the Dyers have become the “front cover” for this issue of pornography among Christian men, and have aided the development in this series.

The Dyers are members of Church at the Mall, Lakeland, Florida, where Dennis is their senior pastor. This ministry has been highlighted in Growing Churches magazine, Christianity Today, and Billy Graham’s Decision Today.

A New Way of Living

Practicing the Beatitudes Every Day
by Gene Wilkes

“You exercise. You eat right. You make good choices—the stairs instead of the elevator. You are pursuing wellness. Is it possible, though, that in your pursuit to achieve wellness you are ignoring the one area of your life that needs the most daily exercise?

Just like physical wellness requires commitment, a training regimen, good choices, and constant pursuit, spiritual wellness does too. In A New Way of Living, you’ll discover a practical spiritual training program that can be successfully embraced and followed. Using nine simple verses, author, preacher, runner, and cyclist Gene Wilkes paints the picture of how to pursue spiritual wellness. Using carefully interpreted messages from the Beatitudes, you’ll have an understanding of the people, the characteristics, and the promises that Jesus addressed. With that understanding, Wilkes then helps you develop your simple Beatitude exercise regimen.

Each chapter in A New Way of Living includes reflection questions as part of a takeaway section as well as a small-group discussion guide and three-week devotional for digital online use. The book also contains photos characteristic of metaphors used in the book as well as other ancillary items.
