“Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name.” —Psalm 29:2

What does it mean to “ascribe”? A quick glance at a dictionary reveals that it means to attribute or give credit to someone. David calls his hearers to “Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name.” He knows the credit for life’s blessings is not due to us, but to Someone greater—the Lord Almighty.

Too often we thank God for letting us accomplish an achievement rather than honoring Him for what He has done through us. This distinction may seem small, but it is monumental. We are the clay, not the potter. We are but a reflection that shines His light. He is the Light. Let us give glory to Him today. He is the One worthy of our praise.
