Birmingham, Alabama, May 24, 2012—Charles Powell, New Hope Publishers author and founder of the Mercy Movement, recently appeared on the American Family Radio (AFR) network to discuss human trafficking for a nationwide broadcast of Today’s Issues hosted by Tim Wildmon with Marvin Sanders.

Powell founded the Mercy Movement in 2009 while writing Not in My Town: Exposing and Ending Human Trafficking and Modern-Day Slavery with coauthor Dillon Burroughs. The book, which includes a DVD, chronicles his undercover investigation of human trafficking throughout the United States and also touches on international issues. The goal of the Mercy Movement is to provide education and awareness; research and investigation; and direct action on behalf of those in slavery for their rescue and restoration.

More to Come

Alongside a team of trained and qualified volunteers, Powell is preparing to begin a number of investigations and rescues in several key states where trafficking is exploding. Mercy Movement also recently announced that planning is underway to open up to 24 safe spaces for adult rescue victims by early 2013. Additionally, Powell stated that the Mercy Movement has secured up to 5 berths for immediate use by rescued child victims thanks to another trusted organization specializing in protecting and caring for children.

Mercy Movement and Children’s Rescue International will be training individuals on human trafficking and rescue in Conneaut Lake, Pennsylvania, from July 16–19. Check it out at strategicmissionandresponse.com.
