Hello dear friends. We had a little tsunami excitement this morning here, but looks like Alaska will dodge the bullet. Don’t forget that the strongest earthquake in recorded North American history occurred here in Anchorage in 1964 – a 9.2 mega quake. Please remember to pray for the people in Japan right now.
It seems like the whole country is obsessed with Alaska. I count ten TV reality shows on Alaska: Alaska State Troopers, Fly Wild Alaska, Gold Rush Alaska, Sarah Palin’s Alaska, Ice Road Truckers, Deadliest Catch, Alaska Wing Men, The Toughest Race of Earth, Tougher in Alaska, and Out of the Wild: An Alaska Experiment. Oh yeah, if you watch Alaska Wing Men, don’t picture me flying in those kind of conditions. That is waaaay beyond my skill level.
I’ve got a team of 57 here right now working. They helped put on the Iditarod Race Start last weekend. Now they are helping at two different community Boys & Girls Clubs, Food Bank of Alaska, a Senior Center, and a local church. I am also grateful for our staff helping: Jerry and Melissa Posey, Billy and Gerry Thompson, and Traci Warren.
The team here leaves tonight and another 50 folks arrive tomorrow for another week of ministry. A week later another 21 folks arrive and we’ll be taking them to serve in a Native village. Soooooo, pray for us. We’ve got our plate full.
Summer ministry is coming together better than ever before. We are FULL. Yes, we are FULL. I am having to tell groups “no.” I’ve never had to do that before. We also have a strong staff team this summer to help care for them. Housing for staff is always a challenge, so pray for us on that one. Our vision this summer is to use the teams to start small groups that (perhaps) may grow into churches.

That is my friend Danny standing on the float of his (former) airplane. Iditarod photographer (and Believer) Jeff Schultz took the photo. I said, “Danny, you don’t like to fish!” He answered, “I was just holding the rod. Jeff didn’t want me to trouble the smoothness of the lake by actually fishing.”
Please put us on your prayer list. Prayer is what protects and empowers us. Your missionary, Scott
